About Us

We are a community church in the heart of Ilford who believe that it is all about Jesus.

Cranbrook Baptist Church is a people of many different ages, races, and backgrounds, who are seeking to love Jesus, love one another, and love Ilford.

We are a Baptist church; members of the Baptist Union of Great Britain, the London Baptist Association and the Evangelical Alliance. Yet we are an unusual church, and we do not easily fit standard descriptions. Our members come from a wide range of experiences of Christ and express their discipleship in equally varied ways. However, we do have some strong uniting factors. There is a great sense of family and love for one another here, as well as a belief that we have been called to live and work together as Christians in Ilford. Primarily, we are centred around the person and work of Jesus Christ, who is the leader of our church.

The following declaration was adopted at a meeting of the church on February 1st 1900 and is one with which the Church would still wish to identify itself:

“We ... having already made personal confession of faith in our Lord Jesus Christ as our Redeemer and Saviour, either by Baptism or by union with some acknowledged body of Christians ... hereby resolve to unite together in worship and fellowship as a Church of Jesus Christ, meeting in Cranbrook Baptist Church, Ilford, to carry on Christian work in the neighbourhood, and in connection with the Baptist Denomination."

What we believe

At Cranbrook Baptist Church, it is all about Jesus!
Our main priority is to get to know Him, and everyone is invited to join us.

We have a few basic beliefs that unite us as a church.

1. There is one God who is Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Always has been, always will be.
2. Humanity rebelled against this God, choosing to live as if He doesn’t even exist.
3. God promised to make this right, and so He sent His Son to live the perfect life, die the perfect death, and rise from the grave in order that humanity might be rescued.
4. All those who have faith in Jesus enjoy Him now on earth, and will live with Him forever when He returns to restore all of creation.
